Hello all,

When conducting earthquake scenario simulation with R2D, I couldn't find the earthquake rupture location or rupture id, source id of the simulated earthquake. Is there any output file that record this information?

Moreover, I ran 10 scenarios but only got 1 magnitude value and 2 identical SiteSourceDistance values in SiteIM.json file. I would like to know that is all the scenarios have same magnitude and same rupture location?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Francisco and fmk,

I also have problem of python, when switch R2D version2 to verision 3.
When I run following scenario simulation, it works in R2D version 2 but can't work in version3. I try to edit the version 3's perference of Python path to be the same as the default python path of version 2, and it works.

The attached file is the input files for version 3. I would really appreciate it if you have any suggestions for this problem.

Hello Frank and Kuanshi,

Thanks a lot for your reply. What you mentioned is very useful for me and my project. ;D

Thanks, I could find the Scenario number setting in this new tool!

Thanks for your advice! I have download the right version and it works.
And thanks for helping me asking about the UCERF! look forward to your reply.

Regional Hazard Simulation (R2D, rWhale) / Scenario information
« on: May 19, 2023, 02:31:54 AM »
Hello all,

The hazard simulation output file SiteIM.json only contains the magnitude and the meanAnnualRate of the Scenario. Is there any other file that could find the other information of the Scenario? such as the Rupture Name, location, depth of the earthquake event, which UCERF3 logic tree branch it belongs to, etc.

Moreover, for one Scenario with multiple ground motions per site (e.g. 10), the output files will contain 10 ground motion sets and 10 siteIM sets respectively (each set contains one ground motion and one siteIM for each site).

I am wondering if that means to compute the ground motion map ten times, and each ground motion set and siteIM set were computed by each of the ground motion map respectively? Or is there another way to compute the site IM and ground motion set?

Thanks for reading and look forward to your reply!

Besides, I would like to know the version of UCERF3 in R2D. Is that UCERF3-TI or UCERF3-TD?

Thanks for your advice! I have solved this problem in version 2.1 by deleting the default value "San Andreas" in HAZ-Earthquake Scenarios-Earthquake name and leaving it empty.

By the way, how to run version #3.0.0 which in pre-release folder? Unlike version 2.1 which has GUI, it seems that it only has code and I couldn't find the execute file.

Hello fmk, thanks so much for your reply. I have solved this problem by changing the version of Java. Java version 8 recommended in the instruction from the official website works well for R2D. Thanks again for your advice!

Hello all,

Is there any example for UCERF3 Earthquake Scenario Simulation? I always encounter error warning when applying Earthquake Simulation by UCERF3. I will really appreciate it if you could share any pertinent example or have any advice about this.

Moreover, to only run HAZ hazard similuation, do I need to define other information like VIA, ASD, HTA, MOD, ANA, etc? Or only the GI and HAZ information is enough for runing the hazard simulations?

Hello,

I have encountered similar error, but I have setup java JDK17 in my PC. Is there any requirement to the installation of java? For example, the folder directory of java, java version, etc.

Regional Hazard Simulation (R2D, rWhale) / About Scenario number
« on: May 17, 2023, 09:24:25 PM »
Hello all, When I check the manual for R2D, I saw a blank for seeting Scenario number in R2D-HAZ-Earthquake Scenario, as shown in Fig. 2.3.1.10 Earthquake rupture forecast.https://nheri-simcenter.github.io/R2D-Documentation/common/user_manual/usage/desktop/R2DTool/HAZ.html#id20

However, when I apply R2D software, 2.1.0 version, I couldn't find this blank. Is this setting deactivated? or It is has the same meaning of number of ground motion per site in R2D-HAZ-Site?
