Is there a way to rerun just the Damage and Loss portion of the R2D workflow within the working directory? I set up all my inputs in the GUI, ran once, and want to keep rerunning the DL portion of the analysis for debugging purposes, without going through the entire workflow every time. Let me know!

I am running R2D for 12 structures in a region. In each of the responses (tmp.SimCenter > Results > Buildings > 1), I am getting five working directories. In the documentation, it says that the UQ engine creates the working directories for each realization of structural response. I'm assuming the number of workdirs corresponds to the number of samples I put in the UQ tab in the user interface.

However, can you clarify how the ground motions are selected for these realizations? I have an EventGrid with 10 ground motion time histories for each site, and I am using NearestNeighbor using 5 samples and 4 neighbors (like many of the examples). In each working directory, is it selecting just one ground motion time history to use? Thus, if I specify 5 samples in the UQ tab and 10 samples for the NearestNeighbor, would only five of those ground motions actually be used in analysis? Thanks for the clarification.

Hi,

I am trying to use the Earthquake Scenario Simulation, using the scattering locations. When I put in all my inputs and hit run, it looks like it is creating a "Ground Motions" file in the local work directory, with an Input and an Output folder. In the inputs, it is creating an EQHazardConfiguration.json and a SiteFile.csv, but the output folder is empty. I am also getting an error that says "An error occurred in the Hazard Simulation script, the exit code is 1."

Based on past forum posts, I reinstalled java and checked it is on my mac, but that did not fix my error. Let me know if you have any advice, and thanks!

Hi,

I am trying to use R2D to assess the performance of an OpenSees model placed at various locations under an earthquake scenario - two quick questions came up.

First, my model is in OpenSees (.tcl file), not OpenSeesPy. In the "MOD" tab, I see an "OpenSeesPy Script Generator" and "CustomPy" -  is there a way to use an OpenSees .tcl model in R2D? I see that OpenSees is an option in the ANA tab, just not in the MOD.

Second question - is there a way to use User Defined EDPs in R2D (instead of the Standard Earthquake EDPs), similar to how you can use User Defined EDPs in EE-UQ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
On the version of R2D downloaded on my computer (Mac prerelease posted on April 6, 2023), I am not seeing an "Earthquake Scenario Simulation" option in the HAZ tab. Was this option removed from the tool?
Thanks for your help!

Regional Hazard Simulation (R2D, rWhale) / Python 3.9
« on: April 04, 2023, 09:04:04 PM »
Hi,

I am new to R2D and just installed it on my laptop (Mac with Intel processor). I am trying to download and run one of the examples built into R2D, but when I run locally, I see the following:

Python version 3.8 or 2.9 is required, you have Python version 3.9 installed.

I see that there was a very similar forum post on October 11, 2022 from UMD_RiskGroup. The answer to that forum post said that it may be because the examples have been updated but that the changes to R2D were being made in the few weeks after that post.

If I am having the same issue, is this still the case? And if so, should I just download an older version of Python to run the examples?

Thanks for your help!

Earthquake Engineering (EE-UQ) / Pop Up Input Fields for User Defined EDP
« on: February 07, 2023, 06:07:07 PM »
Hi,

I am trying to use the user defined EDP field to run an analysis, but when I use the drop down to select User Defined, I am not getting the input fields to show. I had someone else try to do the same, and their user defined EDP seems to be working, but I am on a Mac and they are on a PC, so I am not sure if that is the issue.

I have the most recent version of EE-UQ downloaded, and attached a screenshot below. Thanks for the help.
