Installing using HyperV as Linux host instead of WSL
« on: August 08, 2024, 05:47:24 PM »
We don't support WSL here, as it is basically unmanageable (i.e. impossible to ensure the virtual OS is patched and secure).  We setup a Linux VM on Hyper-V instead, if needed.

I don't see any description or settings on how the front end connects to the backend, and if there are settings to tell it what the backend settings are.  Is it possible to specify a hostname and credentials for it to use to connect to a Hyper-V Linux VM?

Thank you for your interest in WE-UQ. The current version of the software runs only with the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). However, your simulation should still operate as expected without WSL since all the CFD simulations are run on the remote server in DesignSafe. The only limitation is that you might not be able to visualize the mesh and geometry. We recognize this as an opportunity to enhance WE-UQ, and we will consider integrating support for other Linux VMs in the future. Thank you for your feedback.
